3.5*
Lovely story and a good set-up for the rest of the series, though I have to say I'm a tad confused (for spoiler reasons I won't go deeper than that)
Loved the world and different cultures. The caracters were good though some I found to be a bit annoying.
A part of the middle I felt dragged on for too long but the end more than made up for it. That last sentence gave me chills!
I'm feeling 4.5*
This is my first Sci-Fi ever, and I think that for myself, I could not have picked a better one to start with. The Sci-Fi elements were not overwhelming, the story was easy to follow and boy oh boy do I love murderbot!
I'm excited to read the rest of the series, and perhaps this will be the stepping-stone to delve into the Sci-Fi genre as a whole
3.5*
This was a surprise for me. I don't tend to read detective stories often (though I enjoy them) and I was also a bit skeptical because this is a debut.
But I have to say, I was hooked the entire time, I liked the characters despite everything and I'm intrigued by the magic system (little as we got to see of it)
I'm looking forward to the next installment, as well as the main series when that will come out.
I took my time with this book, mainly because I kinda fell into a reading slump in the middle of it. I read bits and pieces every now and then, and at the end I managed to get the last 50 pages or so done in a few days.
With all this, I mean that I don't clearly remember what happened in this book, and what in previous ones. Anyway, I will say that the bits I distinctly remember being in this book, I liked. Also, I love Yennefer, Geralt and Ciri. Yes. Give me more of them :)
I'll put this series on a break for a while, but I will definitely finish it!
IMO, this was (by far) the best book out of the last 3. I felt like this kept on going the entire time, and I overall enjoyed the reading experience.
I will say I had some issues, most of them related to romance, but I'm always picky when it comes to that.
Oh, and might I add, Magnus is the best.
And Tessa and Zacharias (or should I say Jem) are the best too.
I love ‘em.
Yea
It was difficult for me to get into and I found the time confusing as it switched each chapter. Also, there was one part I wasn't particularly fond of.
However.
This. Was. Beautiful.
Erin Morgenstern has such a lively imagination, and I really felt the circus come to live. I could see every tent as if I was standing there. And the story itself was also well-thought-out, with a fabulous (albeit slightly sad) ending.
In conclusion, I loved this.
