I was having a good time for the first half but it really fell off the second half. The final third in particular. Some nice bits of writing mixed in with an over abundance of simile.

My first McCarthy book and I'll definitely be reading more. Loved this.

“You wear out, Ed Tom. All the time you spend tryin to get back what's been took from you there's more goin out the door. After a while you just try and get a tourniquet on it”

I really liked the human elements here, but the war related elements really dragged for me. Give me more Ender at the lake and less Ender in a simulator.

Much of this was uninteresting to me, but it came together nicely in the end. As a car lover, I got a little teary if we're being honest.

I don't love books with lots of POVs and the political message was one I'm already aware of so its delivery feels a little heavy handed. Not a terrible book at all and I might revisit it at some point.

Too repetitive.

Didn't hate it, but I wasn't drawn to finish and there are too many things to read.

Wanted to do the full cast audiobook and while I'm intrigued, i found it too difficult to stay engaged. I might revisit it later.
