Not as badly written as a lot of these books written to persuade you that you are eating totally badly. Lots of case studies sprinkled throughout. Makes for interesting reading if you are concerned about your health.

A chatty book about how awful and self-absorbed people are in Washington

Boring, obtuse, endlessly parenthetical. An awful book that also feels very full of itself. Best avoided.

The final book in the Divergent trilogy. So-so story.

So-so collection of Sedaris' stories. Most of which have been heard before in one form or another. I listened on CD - the best way to encounter a David Sedaris story. There are a few good laughs in there but long series of passages that are not as funny as previous material.

interesting book. a detective novel with Tourette's as the twist. Novel is in the first person. Narrator has Tourette's Syndrome. Not sure how accurate the description is of how the detective experiences the disease.

Wonderful Dickensian story that keeps the reader continually guessing what might happen next. The scenes are so dense with detail. Incredibly enjoyable and engaging read.

Enjoyed this short story collection. Heavy on life in suburbia. Good-hearted satire.

winner of the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction. Really good short stories by a Georgia author (born in Brunswick and attended Georgia State).

OK. But probably just as good is the online documentation. Some people just prefer having a book in their hand and for those folks its worthwhile getting for an intro to Vagrant.

interesting stories. lot of information about New Guinea. crosses a lot of subject areas : war, diet, language. In each area there is some insight that I think is worthwhile. I picked this up because I saw it was on Bill Gates summer reading list (from 2012 I think).

collection of essays on math in a variety of situations. well-written. interesting even for non-math geeks.

really high level overview. a fair introduction to NoSQL.

A delightful fairy tale of a story. A wonderful writer. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

its vampire detective noir - what's not to like.

worthwhile. Some of the examples are somewhat dated and need to be reworked in order to run. Most of the concepts reviewed are still relevant.

Holy shit

I forget where I got the recommendation for this book but I'm glad I read it. A Southern murder mystery that seemed to really capture the feel of rural Mississippi. Well written, well paced, and the two main characters are interesting.

A sweet story of a man's relationship with his amazing Mother, her terminal illness from pancreatic cancer and their shared love of reading.
