Wow. I just finished it & I'm feeling many emotions, mostly shock though.
First, THIS NEEDS A MOVIE ADAPTATION & IT NEEDS TO BE DIRECTED BY CHRISTOPHER NOLAN!!
When I was looking for a book to read, I came across this one & was immediately struck by the description. It reminded me a lot of The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. I read it in middle school & it's always been one of my favorite books. This didn't disappoint at all.
The characters were wonderfully written. Some extremely lovable, some you can't stand but I think a well written character brings out emotions in the reader. Sometimes I find myself wanting to skip through a slow part in a book to get to a more exciting part like wishing I could have skipped a filler chapter or conversation between characters. I didn't have this feeling once! I found myself reading it as soon as I woke up, at any moment of the day that I could & right before going to sleep!
It keeps you wondering & guessing the whole time with its twists & turns & it truly brought a whole other level of excitement to reading! If you like a mystery as well as lots of drama... this ones for you!
When i first heard about this book, it was after reading “The Fate of Mercy Alban.” I loved that one so much I wanted to read more by Wendy! Someone said that this was scarier then TFOMA and that made me a little hesitant to read it at first. Still, I bought it and had it on my list to-read. I started reading it a few days ago and I haven't been able to put down. Wendy's books are the perfect amount of scary for me, as I get scared quite easily. This was wonderful though! I would agree and say that is it a little scarier then TFOMA but not by much. I loved this book and plan on reading her other books as well, and any more in the future! Wendy is definitely one of my new favorite authors now!
I loved this book! I was a little scared at first to read it because I'm not very good with anything scary. I'm usually more of a romance / mystery kinda girl. This was wonderful! I couldn't put it down. I loved that it kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time and made you think. Everything was so descriptive that it really made you think that you were there. I plan on reading The Vanishing next!
i gravitated towards this books right off the bat because of the beautiful cover art. they say “never judge a book by its cover” but i'm a sucker for a pretty one.
when i first started reading, i wasn't totally sure i was going to like it. the writing style was a little different than what i prefer. i like books that use conjugation like “i'm” instead of “i am” or “can't” instead of “cannot.” it just sounds too proper in my head for a contemporary novel about a teenage werewolf so that threw me off. it's also quite slow which made it difficult for me to stay into it. i prefer fast paced books that hold my attention.
saying that, the plot was good, even though a bit odd. the characters were fun once you got to know them a little bit. the beginning is kind of confused & i had a hard time understanding where the story was going but once it started to click, it was much more enjoyable of a read! i love the mix of fantasy & horror! i'm somewhat new to reading fantasy so this was another fun one to get into the genre!
I had just finished reading Fangirl and I thought “Wow! That was amazing! I'm going to check out her other books.” I saw this one and I immediately thought it would be just as good as Fangirl. Sadly, I was wrong. I was completely disappointed with this book. I found myself skimming over pages so I could be done with it faster. It was an alright book. It definitely caught my attention at first but it just didn't hold my attention. I found that about halfway through the book I was extremely bored with it and wanted to read a different one. Sorry!
