The first half was compelling, although the promised ‘twist' was fairly obvious. The second part had potential, though it was clumsily executed. The ending was ridiculous. What a waste.
If you're looking for a quick, easy read - go for it. If you're familiar with the genre - don't bother.
A good mystery and I loved the return of Natalka, Benedict and Edwin. But the writing felt rushed and lazy, not as compelling as the first three Harbinder novels.
I loved what this tried to do, but it just came across as contrived and tacky. I think dialling back on the overt personal inserts and superfluous pop culture references could redeem the next book that they are obviously setting up for at the end.
