It was nice to read this after reading a short run of somewhat didactic middle grade books. Like wow the complexity! The messiness! The characters fucking up and not having clear-cut paths forward! chef's kissthat said, did I like it as much as I liked [b:Last Night at the Telegraph Club 35224992 Last Night at the Telegraph Club Malinda Lo https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1593457992l/35224992.SY75.jpg 56568979]? No but that was a top tier perhaps career best book. This one was still very good. (Also it's billed as a “companion” to Telegraph Club but really it's just a tiny cameo, but still, good to see them again!!) also I'm marking it historical fiction because it's specifically set in 2013, which is not that long ago but also distinct defined era shrug
