The del Cisne girls have never just been sisters; they're also rivals, Blanca as obedient and graceful as Roja is vicious and manipulative. They know that, because of a generations-old spell, their family is bound to a bevy of swans deep in the woods. They know that, one day, the swans will pull them into a dangerous game that will leave one of them a girl, and trap the other in the body of a swan.
But when two local boys become drawn into the game, the swans' spell intertwines with the strange and unpredictable magic lacing the woods, and all four of their fates depend on facing truths that could either save or destroy them. Blanca & Roja is the captivating story of sisters, friendship, love, hatred, and the price we pay to protect our hearts.

hmm, might change the rating in a second
i think the story and the writing were beautiful, but what frequently got in the way was my inability to wrap my head around the plot, what was going on, and the relationships between some of the characters. i don't know why, but the transitions between the very magical realism bits of the story and dealing with real life were jarring for me.
perhaps, once again, i'm the wrong time wrong place to fully and properly enjoying an anna-marie mclemore book
This particular story didn't speak to me the way McLemore's others have, but the writing was beautiful as always!
I really enjoyed the story of the book, but I hated the writing style.
There was four ppint of views, all in first person. And we mostly just read the thoughts of our characters and what are they feeling, there are almost no conversations. And when there were I felt they were lacking because they only happened between two characters, there was almost no interaction between the four charcaters at the same time.
There were also a lot of minor time skips that happened when chapters changed between characters, so we lost of interactions that I wanted to see.
