This book returned to the eloquent, poignant storytelling I'm used to seeing from Ms. Bischof. The most important thing about this book was that there was a beautiful and fitting resolution to the previous book's shocking finale. There were other things to enjoy about this book too, such as its emotional, heartrending, redemptive qualities. This was exactly the sort of story I was in the mood for, and it was the precise type of story I love.
The familial ties were amazing. I especially enjoyed the brotherhood with its ups, downs, and bonds that bruise but don't break. The turmoil and yearning for hope and healing kept me riveted and emotional throughout. The author's trademark atmosphere was thick and saturating as ever, which I loved.
