A Trip Across America with Einstein's Brain
Picked this up from the Little Free Library, with a vague recollection of reading the original piece in Harper's, way back when. Took me awhile to get around to finishing it, though it isn't long – though all the elements of an interesting story were there, it somehow just failed to take root in my head and heart. It's definitely got a bit of Typical Literary White Dude navel-gazing, and generally feels stretched-thin, with the author gesturing in the general direction of a deeper sense of mystery or purpose but ultimately failing to really say anything. It's a shame because the facts itself are certainly weird enough to make an interesting tale, but Paterniti somehow takes the wind all out of its sails.
