The flip side to the Eisner nominated [b:Irredeemable, Volume 1 6681037 Irredeemable, Volume 1 Mark Waid http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1256014034s/6681037.jpg 6876264] books, this series explores the difficult transformation from super-villain to superhero. Max Damage was once the world's most feared super bad guy, but when the Plutonian turns on the world, he fears that there will be no one left to save humanity; the task falls to him. I found the writing to be stilted - lines repeated through four books is bad form - and the art terrible - facial expressions like mud, characters whose bodies morph panel by panel. An interesting idea with uninteresting, and somewhat off-putting, execution. Seems like a slapdash attempt to capture the success of the Irredeemable storyline.
