Into the Adyton

DNF. Not in the mood for this. By 10% I was spending most of the time criticizing the prose (“Morning fog sat mysteriously atop the foliage” - how exactly does fog sit mysteriously?), which leant heavily on the Tell Don't Show approach to writing. I am a little bemused by the number of 5 star reviews for this book; I can only assume that the story-telling gets a hell of a lot better as the book progresses. Unfortunately I don't have the patience to find out.
