In this book the reader follows high school student Adelyn. Adelyn is just your typical teenage girl. She has drama, she is feisty and she sure as hell is very curious. While on vacation in Florida with her parents, Adelyn finds a mirror. She steals it and takes the mirror back home, even though the guide has explicitly said to leave behind all the items they find.
Obviously, strange things are going to happen with Adelyn and the mirror she stole. The mirror is magical: when Adelyn looks in the mirror she sees herself, but more beautiful. She has no [ugly] scar on her chin. Adelyn wants to keep looking in the mirror, because she's completely blown away by the magical powers it possesses. Alas, the mirror isn't good at all. It is possessed by a witch, Muma. The mirror starts changing Adelyn's appearances: her hair turns white, she starts talking in a strange accent, she never spoke with. All signs of possession. Adelyn wants people to believe her, but it's hard for the outside world to believe in such a paranormal activity.
The book is fast paced and quite creepy to read. I had GOOSEBUMPS reading a specific scene about spiders. (I suffer from Arachnophobia, so I was shuddering to the bone, ew). There is some strong language usage in the book itself, but it actually really fits the story and the part where it's used. I really enjoyed the book, it was well written and it definitely sucked me in. The part I liked least was the ending, I expected a tad more. Overall, it was a solid creepy story!
