Short Review: This is a historical fiction/fantasy book. Just after WWII a nurse and her husband who have been separated for most of the last 6 years of the war are vacationing in Scotland to reconnect and allow the husband to do some historical research. The couple stumble on women from the village involved in a druid ceremony and Claire somehow to sent back to 1743 Scotland right before war with England. Claire is rescued from an attempted rape by an English Captain by Scottish highlanders. To save her life she is forced to marry Jamie and being stuck in 1743 attempts to make a life there, although torn by her love for her husband in 1946 and her growing love for her husband in 1743. Because Claire is a nurse and ameture bontinist she works with the people as a healer. This is a pretty long book (just over 800 pages) and it spends a lot of time developing characters and giving background. It is the first in what is now an 8 book series. The ending is a cliff hanger, which I wasn't thrilled at, but I liked it enough that I will pick up later books eventually. Most of the rest of the books in the series are around $5 on kindle and you can get the audiobooks discounted for $3.99 if you buy the kindle books first. The book is being turned into a TV series for Starz summer of 2014.

(I would put a content warning on the book, which I talk about more on my blog.)
