The conclusion to the series consists largely of a protracted battle between Alex and the two remaining villains of the series. Before that, we do get a preparation scene that shows us some more of Alex's backstory and after it's done there's a coda that brings the series to a conclusion. But, in between, it's Alex joining the Council forces trying to take down Richard and the djinn, with some epic battle scenes interspersed with quieter moments that play on how things have developed between the protagonist and those that still mistrust him.
As a conclusion to the series, it works well, tying up the remaining threads and providing a satisfying ending that - it not wholly positive for everyone involved - fits perfectly with where we've been heading. Yes, there's potentially room for more in the same setting, but there's no need for it after this and it's good to see a series wrapped up effectively without just dragging on indefinitely.
