Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Fun times for halloween! We got a different illustrated version from what I read growing up as a kid- Half of the reason this book is scary is the original illustrations imo

Anyway, Tim and I read these out loud - first we tried to be serious about them...then we just kinda got silly about it and it was a lot of fun. They're the perfect length and scare factor for a J level read for sure.

My favorite one, that scared me as a kid and carried it's way into adulthood was “The Highbeams” Where a teen gets into her car after an event and gets followed by a truck. This truck would occasionally blast his highbeams filling her car with light. This one scares me because as a kid it was so grounded in reality and as an adult seems like too real of a possibility.

Fun read! I think I'll read the next book for halloween!
