3.5 stars Parts Duke Nukem meets South Park meets classic Kevin Smith. Sophomoric humor abound in this ???Battle Royale??? but with aliens. Although the redeeming factors are some toilet humor chuckles and an epilogue author interview with the characters which was pretty hilarious.
Enjoyable for the self-aware characters and sharp-tongued banter.
No this is not related to the Netflix show.
The Master Of Science Fiction Adds Humor! Jeremy Robinson, the modern day Master of Science Fiction, has now added even more to his stories: literal laugh out loud, and very nearly literally roll on the floor laughing, level humor to a science fiction adventure that is just as breathtaking as his other books.
If you like science fiction at all, this is a must have. If you like geek humor and/ or battle royale gaming, this is a must have. If you just want to laugh amidst all the drama in the world right now, this is a MUST. HAVE.
So stop reading this review and go buy this book and start reading it instead already! President Kanye West demands it!
I don't typically write reviews, but I felt I should for this book. In typical fashion, Jeremy Robinson delivered... I haven't read a book written by him yet that I haven't liked.
I must admit I sometimes get sick of his referencing his other books, and he did it again in this one, but as a jab at himself for referencing other books! It definitely had a Deadpool fourth-wall-breaking humor to it, as did much of the book.
This book was probably one of his best yet, second only to Infinite, in my opinion. I love the sarcastic wit, plus as a gamer myself I loved the battle royale theme of this book, and I understood all of the gamer references.
As an added bit of humor/coincidence/irony - the actual United States Space Force was created while I was reading this, when I came across the news article I thought I was imagining things.
I listened to the audiobook version read by Jeffery Kafer, Emily Woo Zeller, and Machelle Williams. Jeffery kafer is one of my favorite narrators, and Emily did a fantastic job as well.
