DNF - PG 29
Why?
Honestly, because I am just so bored already and I have no motivation to pick it up and read any more. I make like two pages at a time before I set it back down in favor of doing anything else.
There's a lot of words used for nothing actually being said and as I've been out of the Wizards worlds for so long, I really have no idea what events are being referenced which reduces any interest I might have gained by recognizing Jarlaxle and the Baenre name. (Also, everything before chapter one was the most blech beginning to a fantasy book I think I've ever seen. And I've been over Drizzt for many, many years, so the whole ‘Drizzt is jut the best' vibe I'm already getting doesn't mesh with me.)
As I said, it's been ages (like 10-15 years) since I read anything Wizards (though I do want to reread some favorites) and even longer since I read Salvatore. I don't know if these are things Wizards always was and I've just developed the problem more recently or not.
I will say, I liked the idea of not ‘always evil' Drow, but...if you take them out of Menzoberranzan, are they sill actually Drow? (How much does this help the inherent racism of the the Drow?) I thought this book would be an interesting read because of that, but the wordy way the people talk kind of killed me before I got to the parts that I wanted to read this book for, so...yeah.
