I tried reading this book shortly after it came out but had to set aside because I found it overwhelming. But, something made me pick it up again 9 years later. I finished listening it to it over the weekend. Clearly, Rubin has done a lot of research—more than I had anticipated. Her rather extreme personality was fascinating to me. Her perfectionism does seem a bit counterintuitive to what she is hoping to accomplish. But, what I found both endearing and helpful is her acceptance of herself as she is, or “Be Gretchen” as one of her rules states. And, we could all use this sort of self-acceptance.
