The irony of this being called the lost plot...feel free to disregard my review, or take it more seriously when I tell you I skimmed the second half. I love this series for interdimensional travel, library myth and magic, mystery, adventure, and the interpersonal tension between a few key figures. This book was WAY too much dragon politics, repetitive stymied action towards any goal, and NO VALE! The last few chapters do not make up for it.
You'd think that would put me off the series, but the ending served one purpose that should mean there's a bit more interpersonal progress instead of just frustrating plot points. I'd say hopefully there will also be a reduction in self-serving factions trying to manipulate the main characters, but that is admittedly a major theme in this series. I'd settle for more than a cameo from the other love interest. 🤦🏼♂️ Call this strike one. 🙎🏼♂️
