The Tobacco Wives

The setting is very strong and I like that. It is easy to see where the plot is going and some of the characters are a little flat. I like that they are confronting this piece of history and I like that they focus on women. It is odd that Jim Crow isn't confronted anymore than it is. So that took me out of the story often.
If you want to read a book with a strong setting, read this one. If you want strong characters or great history, you might be a little disappointed with this one.
