The Undoing of Saint Silvanus

The setting is wonderful. The characters change throughout the novel, but are always honest anout who they are and their limitations. That is the best part. The characters aren't lying to themselves or others. They aren't trying to be what they are not. They are living their lives honestly. Even the criminal is fairly honest about their criminal activities. Justice is very human and limited, but that isnt isn't the point of the novel. It is there, but the lives of the people within Saint Sans are about more than that.
You can see God all throughout the novel, but it isn't forceful or in your face. He is there working behind the scenes and ready when someone needs to talk to him. And without Him none of that honesty would be possible.
