This book had so much potential to be good.
I LOVE reading MC Romance novels, there is usually a lot of action, romance & hot and heavy sex. With this book there was very little of each of those things. The book only took a couple hours to read...(like 2) and it felt very rushed and not well thought out.
Devlin (ugh..I hate the name) is in his mid twenties and he falls for a high school girl (Kaylie) when she's 16.(Creepy much?) However, he waits until she's 18 and graduated from high school to make his move on her. They fall instantly in love. (Bullshit) They FINALLY have sex at pretty much the end of the book, he gets arrested, he gets bailed out...yay happily ever after.
So my issue is that I'm not sure if this was the author's very first novel she ever wrote or not, but it needed SO MUCH WORK. So many typing errors were made, and quite frankly the storyline completely fell flat. Now, I'm not saying that I absolutely hated it, because I didn't. It kept me interested, for the most part, until I was at 90% and realized that the book was about to end and nothing even really happened yet. IMO, the author should have taken her time and realized the potential that this story could have had. There was barely any action or drama. (If you aren't familiar with these types of books, they usually have at least 2-3 kill scenes, a huge fight, a break-up and lots of sex or sexual tension.)
I think the author could have used Dani (Crazy ex-girlfriend.) more wisely. It's so nice when crazy bitches get what they deserve, and she had a lot of potential to be a crazy bitch. Maybe it continues in the next story, but I would have rather had it in this one since she's “so in-love” with Devlin. My second huge problem was that Devlin and Kaylie never broke up or had a huge fight or something that made them realized that they needed each other. Cliché, I know, but that is something that I feel necessary when writing a romance novel. They just fell in love in a matter of days and now they're planning on marriage? Fuck that. I need a better written story for it to keep me interested in the series.
Probably not reading the rest of the series.
