I originally read the Kindle Edition of this book and it was my introduction to dark romance. I really enjoyed it. recently I decided to revisit the book as an audio book and unfortunately it wasn't nearly as good. In the podium audio book version the male actor was so strange to listen to and he sounded like a pirate LOL. It completely broke the mood for me and I ended up laughing so many times. I wasn't really looking for a comedy so I'm leaving this at DNF.

Fav Quotes:
“You said our relationship had a rocky start, and you were right,” he said quietly. “So here I am, trying for a fresh start. No business, no bullshit. Just us, meeting normally like any two people would.”
“I'd been falling in love with her, bit by bit, since she crashed my exhibition and stared me down with defiance in her eyes.”
I don't know how I felt about this book. The writing was very good and the storyline kept me captivated and reading.
But the abusive relationship between the main characters makes me feel icky and uncomfortable. I was rooting for them but at the same time, I wanted Eve to get away from Jason ASAP. If Eve was someone I knew in real life, I would do anything in my power to get her away from that man and tell her that she deserves better. I want her to find a healthy relationship, and to know what a healthy relationship is like.
Jason is a mess, Eve is a mess. It's all a mess.

This book is well written and I like the characters but for whatever reason I kept putting it down and reading other books. I love this authors writing style which always makes me laugh and gives me some of my favorite quotes.
I might come back to it later, but for now, I am moving it over to my DNF shelf and moving on.

There is something really ‘off' about the timeline here. Made it to chapter 12 and all the restaurant scenes kept overlapping times in a weird way. 3rd person but switching POVs.
Chapter 9 ends with:
He approaches her table.
Chapter 10 ends with:
He approaches her table and sits down across from her.
Chapter 11:
He approaches her table (again) but he invites them to go sit at his table.
I get it, he walked up to her table lol. This is where I bailed.
DNF 55% - He has already fallen for her at this point in the book and it's getting a bit too ‘feelings-y' for me. if I come back to this and finish the book then I will update my rating but at this point I'm going to put it down and start something else.
Review in progress as I read.
I love the style of writing and how the tone changes as the POV changes. Not many authors do this so well!
I was gutted at the end of the last book so much that I took a little time off after to process and read another book but am back to binge through this one.
