Plot-wise it kinda fell flat for me. I got the feeling it was more focused on the love-triangle, which drove me nuts sometimes. Also, why does Will have to keep being described? Gorgeous, beautiful eyes, perfect lashes, ... I get it, okay xD
Lastly, just when I switched to the other camp... Boom (but I'm still hoping my boy will win xD)
I'm excited to see where this series will go next.
Something I appreciated was that the girl could not fight when she entered and didn't suddenly know how to kick ass after 1 day. This is something that happens in other books, so I'm glad it didn't happen here.
Although, I hope that in the next books Tessa will be more independent and all.
I don't know how I feel about the romance though... guess I'll have to wait and see.
So I enjoyed this book and liked the writing style, but... I felt like they were building up to one big moment, but that big moment didn't really happen, so that was a let-down for me. They were giving hints that it was gonna be epic and dramatic and all that, but for me it kinda fell flat?
Anyway, I think the characters are great and I liked the chemistry, although some decisions were questionable and some characters didn't quite behave the way I expected them to.
Overall, this book was enjoyable to read, with quite some unexpected twists. At one point I really couldn't bring myself to put it down because I just had to know what was going on.
Therefore, I'm giving it 4 stars (for now, I might change my mind)
Edit: I'm bringing it down to 3.5
Well... This was... Something
(again I had a few minor issues but...) Dannnng this book delivered!
I had high standards going in to this (probably shouldn't have but hey, it happened soooo)
but it sure as hell didn't let down.
There were still plottwists (like geez where do they keep coming from?) and I had to wink away some tears.
So yeah, I really enjoyed this one, and I'm sad that I have to leave this universe now...
In conclusion: awesome finale to a good series
Chaol and Nesryn both really developped as characters. It was great to see them go through their struggles and meet new people who helped them.
However, personally I thought it was a bit long-winded, and then some parts felt too rushed. It's hard to explain, but I think that some parts in the middle could have been gone a little faster, and the ending slower because it was a bit much at times. And some relationships felt rushed to me.
But overall I liked the story, and also that we got to see Nesryn and Chaol more in-depth.
I'm still unsure wether it should be 3.5 or 4 stars, I'll score it once I will have put more thought into the book.
