A solid mystery of sorts. Interesting to read about COVID and lockdowns in fiction, though as someone mentioned, we’re not far enough removed from it (still ongoing) for it to be considered a plot point. I did like the alternating POVs and even the time jumps, though reading it probably helped keep those straight.

Updated a reading goal:
Read 100 books in 2026
Progress so far: 25 / 100 25%

Nice anthology of stories about Ramadan and Eid. Didn’t realize it was for middle schoolers so the writing is definitely aimed for this younger crowd. I’ve read other books by these authors so it was nice to hear from them again.

Another solid mystery from this series! I realize they can be read as stand-alone, which is why the author alludes to things from previous books (ex. relations, who people are, etc). I enjoy listening to the recipes at the end; they sound so good though I probably won’t make any of them. I’ve been getting good at figuring out the killer(s) each book and this was no exception. One more left…

I haven’t read a book by this author in quite some time, and this one was on my TBR so I checked out the ebook from my library. Since it’s a mystery, it was a quick read but uncomfortable at times. I mainly wanted to read it so I could watch the series, which I will do.

Love System of a Down and was excited to hear about this book. I waited a few months for the audiobook from the library so I could listen to it. The author, Serj Tankian, narrated it and it was a good mix of memoir and history of Armenia and the genocide of 1915. Interesting to learn about the band's dynamics and growth and how they used music to share important messages. Something was missing though, maybe the few references to “Israel” annoyed me, and I wish he had mentioned Palestine at least once.

This cozy mystery series is so comforting, although it deals with serious issues like murder, violence, betrayal and more. The fourth book deals with the calendar crew and brings in a few new characters. Narration was great as usual and it was a quick listen.

I watched this series and then found out it was based on a book, so I checked it out from Libby. It kept my attention fairly well and I knew it was different from the show, so that made it interesting since I didn’t know how it would end. I didn’t love the writing style so probably won’t read more from this author.

This is the third book of this series and I’m rolling along with the audiobook (same narrator). Not sure I loved this storyline and there were too many characters honestly. I’m getting pretty good at figuring out the culprit(s) so hopefully I’ll surprised in the rest of the series. A nice, cozy mystery with interesting characters and lots of food references. I could do without all the pork ones (being Muslim) but that’s a personal preference.

I’d heard about this book on Twitter, and was glad to find the audiobook from my library. Solid narration though it would’ve been easier to follow if I read it instead of listening. Lots of names to keep track of, but I understood the main characters at play. This book had me cussing and reacting with all the terrible crimes and events that occurred. It was informative and it solidified my hate for the military. Well-researched and chock full of details.

Another solid book from this series! I’m enjoying being in Lila’s world and getting to meet new characters as well. I liked the first book more but this one was good too; I figured out the suspect pretty early on but that’s because it’s usually someone you don’t expect. Narration was great and I’ll be continuing this series.

I read this book over a span of a few days, but I had it checked out from the library and my week-loan expired, so I had to get it again. This is exactly as it is described: a cozy read about found family and being comfortable with oneself. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this author.

I liked the idea of this book: 7 stories of people who rent a cat for 3 days. I particularly enjoyed the story of the young man living in an apartment. Some of the stories didn’t resonate with me but overall a quick read.
