I was not expecting to enjoy these as much as I did. Such tight, economical storytelling while having a sense of humour and not being too spare. The stories are such a product of their time but still relate to this time too. Loved the last two stories the most. Loved his genius children.

I read some of these in the actual issues of The Believer but that was years ago. Sat down and read the whole thing in an afternoon. It's been a while since a book has made me laugh out loud.
