I loved watching the FMC’s transformation; she starts off meek and mild, but with the MMC’s support, she discovers a fierce inner strength and finally finds her voice.

On the flip side, seeing her be the only one capable of softening his "demons" was so satisfying. He’s a dark character who wouldn't have understood love without her, and that "only she can change him" dynamic was written beautifully.

The plot includes a great twist that definitely keeps things interesting, and it wraps up nicely without leaving you frustrated by unanswered questions. If you love a story where the emotional growth is just as intense as the mafia stakes, you need to check this one out.

I have mixed feelings about this one. After being introduced to these characters in the first book, I was incredibly excited to dive into their backstory, but the payoff didn't quite live up to the hype. To be clear, the writing itself is excellent; it’s more that my own high expectations made the story feel a bit underwhelming.

While the plot was interesting, the "big scary" elements like Fable felt anticlimactic, and the history between the leads wasn't as devastating as I had braced for. The side plot involving unrequited love from a non-main character felt unnecessary, and while the hero maintained his dark, poetic edge, the execution of the ending felt a bit sloppy. I really wanted to love this, but my personal build-up made the reality fall a little short.

The inclusion of suspense and unexpected twists kept the plot interesting, while the slow, realistic resolution of the characters' past issues made their eventual reunion feel earned rather than rushed. I particularly appreciated that the leads didn't immediately fall back into "insta-love," opting instead to actually address their problems; I also enjoyed the supporting cast and am holding out hope for a Silas spin-off!
