The #1 bestselling new mystery series of the past decade comes roaring back with 3rd Degree, a shockingly suspenseful thriller featuring the Women's Murder Club. One of James Patterson's best loved heroines is about to die. Detective Lindsay Boxer is jogging along a beautiful San Francisco street when a fiery explosion rips through the neighborhood. A town house owned by an Internet millionaire is immediately engulfed in flames, and when Lindsay plunges inside to search for survivors, she finds three people dead. An infant who lived in the house cannot be found - and a mysterious message at the scene leaves Lindsay and the San Francisco Police Department completely baffled. Then a prominent businessman is found murdered under bizarre circumstances, with another mysterious message left behind by the killer. Lindsay asks her friends Claire Washburn of the medical examiner's office, Assistant D.A. Jill Bernhardt, and Chronicle reporter Cindy Thomas to help her figure out who is committing these murders-and why they are intent on killing someone every three days. Even more terrifying, the killer has targeted one of the four friends who call themselves the Women's Murder Club. Which one will it be? While the investigation rages furiously, Lindsay works very closely with a federal officer assigned to the case. At the same time, she learns that one member of the Women's Murder Club is hiding a secret so dangerous and unbelievable that it could destroy them all.

I have been gripped since I began reading Pattersons Womans Murder Club series. Again I managed to devour this one in around 24 hours and it followed on really nicely from books 1 & 2.
It was sad to say goodbye to one of the main characters from the series, also as it happened mid-novel it probably didn't get as much emotional time invested in it as could have been but with the books linking together so well maybe this is something they'll come back to in later books.
This book is a little different to books 1 & 2 whereby its conclusion is less defined and much less tense. This didnt leave me quite so fulfilled but i'm still desperate for book 4.
I am shocked and sad. I did not expect this, at lease not so early in the series. I am really enjoying this series and I can't wait to start the next book. But I am still sad knowing that we lost one of my favorite characters.
In this story Lt. Lindsay Boxer is out jogging with her dog when a nearby house suddenly explodes. After calling for help she goes into the burning building to see if there are any survivors. She finds a young boy and is able to get him out. She later finds out that the family was targeted because of the husband's business dealings. The group responsible left a note and it is clear that they plan to continue the killing. As Lindsay works to find the killer her friend Jill is having marital problems and the other friends try to help. When Jill doesn't show up to work one day with no explanation Her friends think maybe she decided to take off on a trip without telling anyone like she has done before OR maybe her husband did something to her. They are wrong though which Lindsay soon finds out.
