Some parts of this book get bogged down in the minutiae of Silicon Valley start-up culture, but overall it's an interesting yarn about the first Artificial Intelligence.
Contemplated to stop reading 1/3 of the way but decided to finish so that I don't feel guilty for rating it with two stars.
Well, if you are a sci-fi reader, this is definitely not for you since there's not much originality. If you are into technology, Silicon Valley, etc. definitely not for you except you may feel like the book covers things you know and maybe trying take a jab at them (not so successfully IMHO).
Anyways maybe I had higher expectations or something but I didn't enjoy reading this book that much. Sorry to say...
Very fun read. The perspective and voice changes took me a minute to get used to. But I love the premise and the resolution. If you're not very close to tech and Silicon Valley culture, then you may not pick up on some of the more subtle references... or even the more obvious ones (Justine Sacco, Kurzweil, etc.) but I don't think the story would be at all diminished by that.
Anyway, very fun.
