I enjoyed this one a lot, it has a many of the elements that speak to me right now, pain that gets passed down the generations, grief, addiction, and all manners of “things we say we do but that misery commits” meeting the underbelly of society and the not quite human things it contains. In a way it reminded me of The Devil Takes You Home by Gabino Iglesias (it's a completely different story it's the vibes and some themes) but with a lot more hopeful ending.
The characters mostly come across as pretty real and the way they evolve makes them hard not to root for. The only thing I didn't like was that some of the dialogues felt a little forced but that wasn't enough to diminish my enjoyment of the story.
