Why?
Why are the sleuths in cozy mysteries so darn unlikable? I mean, the main characters in fantasy and sci-fi are usually likable (unless unlikable protagonist is the whole point) and in romance, likable main characters is the whole point. But in so many mystery novels, the main character is just so unlikable and just, generally, a terrible person.
This one really ticks me off with her reactions and behavior to her family. She fights so much with her brother-in-law (seems to kind of hate him) and blames her sister for the family business failing. And, of course, she has to move back home because she's the only one that can save it.
Her reactions to the death is...off putting. I can understand her wanting to keep the family business running, but being so callous is surprising. (And constantly referring to the dead guy as ‘that poor man' made me annoyed for so many reasons.)
