Dina Demille runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town... but her broom is a deadly weapon; her Inn thinks for itself, and is a lodging for otherworldly visitors. The only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who can't leave the grounds because she's responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight. Now something with wicked claws and deepwater teeth has begun to hunt at night. To keep her neighbors and guests safe, Dina has to juggle dealing with annoyingly attractive, ex-military, new neighbor, Sean Evans-- an alpha-strain werewolf -- and the equally arresting cosmic vampire soldier, Arland.

Dina is an “Innkeeper” who has magical powers from her inn. The inn is a sanctuary for aliens travelers like vampires, werewolves, fae, demons, etc. There are mysterious killings around the town of livestock and animals. Dina is trying to get to the bottom of that. In walks Sean Evans who is a new werewolf in the neighborhood. They of course butt heads and have to find a way to work together.
This was the gateway books for me for the author. After I picked it up, I could not stop reading until I went through all of their books. Including the series Kate Daniels, Hidden Legacy, The Edge, and even their Kinsmen novellas. I absolutely love their writing style, the creative world building, the romantic tensions, all of it.
This books specifically had great world building, kick-ass but humble heroine, strong but subdued alpha male, super creative world building, great plot. I couldn't get enough.
a good, quick book. some typical Urban Fantasy Tropes.
I enjoyed that the Plot wasn't entirely focused on the Romance and that while it was there it was subdued. I dislike it when the Romance takes over the plot, so this was perfect. It was interesting to learn that this book was written and released chapter by chapter online. even with that I never felt the delay or the change.
I also liked that near the End the story resolved itself in such a way that i'm excited to see what happens next, but not worried about “power creep” or crazy scaling or Romance taking over the whole thing.
I am also really in love with the Magic of the Inns, very unique and very exciting.

CAWPILECharacters. The characters all play there role, there is a little bit of being a stereotype, but they diverge enough to be just fine.AtmosphereThe Atmosphere is clear, and truly feels like it could be on earth.Writingi never felt like it was too infodumpyPlotThe Plot is good. starts with a small mystery and slowly expands and grows into something more. while keeping many mysteries and future things available.IntrigueThe intrigue of the world and the Innkeepers and what happened with Dina's Parents really brought me in.LogicNothing felt too out of place or illogical, some small "conincidences" but to be expectedEnjoymentI enjoyed this book a lot, it hit all the right notes without hitting them too hard or too often.
