This biography by Edmund Morris, the Pulitzer Prize -- and National Book Award -- winning author of The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt and Theodore Rex, marks the completion of a trilogy sure to stand as definitive. Of all our great presidents, Theodore Roosevelt is the only one whose greatness increased out of office. What other president has written forty books, hunted lions, founded a third political party, survived an assassin’s bullet, and explored an unknown river longer than the Rhine? Packed with more adventure, variety, drama, humor, and tragedy than a big novel, yet documented down to the smallest fact, this masterwork recounts the last decade of perhaps the most amazing life in American history. - Publisher.

Well, it is pretty clear that this series isn't for me.
What began as an excellent exploration into TR's childhood and adult life quickly spiraled into a series of boring stories of his life and times as a State Assemblyman and, eventually, President of the United States.
This book is no exception, as we see Morris' strength as a writer seem to wane, so that this book becomes a slog to get through. Even Morris' recounting of Roosevelt's adventure through Africa and the Amazon was boring to read. I find it increasingly frustrating that so much energy that seemed to permeate the first book now seems almost non-existent in this final entry. In the end, I have no one to blame but myself. Clearly, other people have loved this series, when I cannot. I give it two out of five.
