much better than the first book, tho it still does feel like ACOTAR deeply inspired the whole story and it does slightly read like fanfiction. The writing got better towards the end, enough to make me look forward to reading Covet
The story itself was interesting. The supposedly big revelation in the beginning of this book was super predictable and it took quite a long time for them to finally figure it out. That being said, I was curious how the rest of the story would go. There were some other smaller predictable elements, but that's okay.
The writing style was still a little cringy sometimes (strong ‘teenage puppy love' vibes from FMC with a lot of ‘swooning'). Also the use of ‘AF' was still way too frequent but fortunately a lot less than the first book.
In the beginning I had a hard time reading the parts that were supposed to be British English. It was basically just a lot of British swear words in a row. Sometimes it felt like Hudson was some kind of hooligan instead of a posh vampire prince.
I was very disappointed with the first book but everyone talked about how much better this one is. But I have no idea what they are talking about. Crave was a ripoff of Twilight and this one rips off The Host. Clearly, Tracy Wolff wants to be Stephenie Meyer and copies her plot ideas in her own world. Yes this book has dragons, wolves, witches, and vampires. But there are too many similarities.
The worst part for me was breaking the mating bond just to form a new one. I was actually impressed when the mating bond was broken because I was excited to see how Grace overcame that loss and what she did when she could choose who to be with. But instead, we get a new bond. Which makes no sense. If the bond is supposed to be with your true love and the perfect person for you, how can you have two mates?
