I really enjoyed this one. It wasn't as dark as I was anticipating, but that was OK because the story pulled me in and kept me interested. It was well written and had a nice steady pace. Some action and violence. Some smokin' sex scenes as well.
Con was the type of hero, well anti-hero, that I really love. He was a man that did very bad things, but his heart turned to complete mush for his angel Charlie. Charlie was a strong heroine who had suffered many tragedies and came out the other side stronger. She was the perfect woman for Conrad. There weren't a whole lot of secondary characters that take up page space, but Con's friend Nate looks like he has potential to be a hero in an upcoming book. I really liked him, so fingers crossed.
This was very “insta lust (love)” to me. Con's stalking sets events into motion that finally brings him and Charlie together (though not in the manner he was hoping for.) Charlie's resistance was really short lived and they quickly moved into the “I love You” stage. While that didn't take away from my enjoyment I think a little more push/pull between Charlie and Con would have made the story stronger overall. There was very little angst (though there was some graphic violence) and absolutely NO OW/OM drama. The epilogue was sweet, though slightly confusing in one part.
Like I said, though, overall I really enjoyed this one. So two thumbs up from yours truly.
