Well, I suspect the author wanted to end the series with a big teamwork boss fight, and he did manage that. And he wanted to end it simply, in an implied manner, but it came off as rushed unfortunately. I do like the internet commentary and human reactions - they are so creepy because that's exactly how some humans behave, thriving on anonymous negativity. But anyway, the fight itself was fine, although how this particular was captured if he's so powerful is, of course, not mentioned. He was needed for this final fight, that's why. Anyway, it's on par with the rest of series. The fall back to Earth was, of course, unexplained. The author seems to have forgotten that he made the alien set the the spaceship on a collision course for Earth, so... maybe humanity was destroyed in the end, despite the protagonists surviving the fall through empty space (lol)?
The series as a whole is enjoyable from a mindless action point of view. I do like series, although the individual ratings of each volume was based on what happened in each and based on both my impressions while reading them and then reflecting on them. Don't think too much about it and you'll find the series to be quite fun to flip through - it's quite a page turner, despite its flaws.
