Started a new bedtime routine and this seemed appropriate to read. It's such a cute little nighttime book.
Goodnight Moon is probably one of the first books I thought of and bought when I started to get books for my oldest daughter as an infant. We bought a boardbook and now, less than thrree years later it is in pretty rough shape. It is a favorite. We even as big sister gifts and for “school” now at 2 1/2 got her [b:Goodnight Moon 123: A Counting Book 32936 Goodnight Moon 123 A Counting Book Margaret Wise Brown https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1168407092s/32936.jpg 33054] and [b:Goodnight Moon ABC: An Alphabet Book 8295985 Goodnight Moon ABC An Alphabet Book Margaret Wise Brown https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348257233s/8295985.jpg 13144602]. Tonight when we started to explore in our new HarperCollins Treasury of Picture Book Classics and she Goodnight Moon was an option it was an instant request. The yellow, orange, red and brilliant green are never colors I would have picked but they work so well with this book. The alternating grey pages add a character and conversation piece too. From finding the mouse on each page to relating to “her mittens” or something else familiar this little book finds its way as being a friend. Well known and dear. I wonder how many copies will we end up going through before childhood is at sn end.Online storytime: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9B8FFEC1B0DFCEDBReprinted and/or excerpt included in [b:The 20th-Century Children's Book Treasury: Picture Books and Stories to Read Aloud 238068 The 20th Century Children's Book Treasury Celebrated Picture Books and Stories to Read Aloud Janet Schulman https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1411333628s/238068.jpg 230604] and also in [b:HarperCollins Treasury of Picture Book Classics: A Child's First Collection 1157711 HarperCollins Treasury of Picture Book Classics A Child's First Collection Katherine Brown Tegen https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347447886s/1157711.jpg 1145293].
An all time favorite for the year 2021 and 2022. Both of my kids have become obsessed with this story and request it almost every night.

I deleted these reading because you can only read a book 25 times. We'll have a clean slate for 2024. I had to leave 12/31/23 on since I show the book as read.
I have video of Blake “reading” this on May 30, 2023.
On December 8, 2023, Thomas asked Lucian to read to them. Lucian read this book.
I know this book is a classic, I know that the narration is soothing and that it is fun for kids to search for objects in the room, but this book didn't work with me. I just felt like the intense red and green were not at all soothing, and that the sudden apparition of the mama rabbit was unexpected. Maybe I would enjoy it more in pastel colors.
