The Joker has been mysteriously released from Arkham Asylum, and he's none to happy about what's happened to his Gotham City rackets while he's been "away." What follows is a harrowing night of revenge, murder and manic crime as only The Joker can deliver it, as he brutally takes back his stolen assets from The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face, Killer Croc and others.

There's a gorilla with a gun. And that's probably the best part of this book.
The Joker in Joker ziet er precies uit als the Joker in The Dark Knight, en is even donker.
Het verhaal speelt zich buiten andere Batman-continuïteiten af, in een wereld waar the Joker net ontslagen is uit Arkham Asylum, terugkomt in de stad, en merkt dat hij niets meer in handen heeft. Verteller van dienst is ene Jonny Frost, een vierderangscrimineel die eerder toevallig in de inner circle van the Joker raakt.
Geen superhelden, alleen kapotte mensen, hier. Leutig is anders, want echt iedereen is op zijn eigen manier kapot. Flitsen bekend volk: Harley Quinn, Riddler, Penguin, Batman zelfs eventjes, maar daar gaat het helemaal niet over.
We krijgen een kijk op wat het is om te werken voor een krankzinnige misdadiger. Jonny vindt het in het begin allemaal spannend, maar dat blijft niet lang duren: er is absoluut niets grappigs aan een kranzinnige psychopaat als baas. En er is absoluut zeer weinig grappig aan het leven van the Joker.
Verder wél aangeraden.
Great Joker story. I really liked the story was told through a thug who was riding with joker and wants to find out how the joker ‘is not crazy'. The ending where he realized that the joker is in fact not crazy but just plain evil led by his fluctuating emotions I loved.
