"Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her. While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't tell her his name. She's determined to escape him and willing to take any risks necessary to survive. As her husband's deception is revealed, and the FBI closes in on her captor, Emory begins to wonder if the unnamed man is, in fact, her rescuer from those who wish her dead--and from heartbreak."--Back cover.

Literally had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the thrill of the mystery unspooling as the small flames of a romance grew. Absolutely delicious.
this is the type of read where you must question everything, dissect every line, and be cautious not to be tantalized by the low hanging fruit. Moreover, it makes the passion all the more decadent and raw, when you're constantly questioning the characters' mores and motivations, making your heart and passion fall for what should be forbidden and undoubtedly what common sense tells you to be wary of. But in fiction like in life, you can't help who you fall in love with.
