Micky is celebrating her one year divorce from her ex-husband by contemplating going on a date with a woman and instead she gets in over her head and she just might like it.
Micky has always wondered whether there was something more to her liking girls, but instead she followed the social norms. She married a man and had two kids. One day she realized that she could not live a life of unhappiness anymore and asked for a divorce. After a lot of prodding by her best friend Amber, she gets a job at The Pink Bean the local LGBT hotspot as a coffee barista.
Then Amber convinces Micky that she needs to open herself up to the lesbian possibilities and in walks Robin. Soon Micky is out on that date, then flat on her back, then agreeing to a no strings attached relationship with Robin. Can no strings really work?
Whew! It was getting hot under my covers while reading No Strings Attached (2016) by Harper Bliss, the first in “The Pink Bean” series. Robin and Micky have some fabulous chemistry and let me just say that Micky was in very capable hands for her first time. (laugh). Bliss definitely knows how to write her sex scenes.
I liked the exploration of Micky's feelings of coming out, the unsurety of knowing exactly what label she was, and her journey in finding out. Her joy as the knowledge came to her was beautifully written. I felt as if it was my first time feeling the rightness of it. (I actually do not remember feeling that much joy so it was pretty good. (laugh))
At the same time, Bliss makes you wonder about the other characters and their stories. She leaves you wanting more and hence the continuation of “The Pink Bean” series. See you in Australia...and if you have already been there...ssshhh don't spoil the ride!
I received this book for free as part of the ARC team and give my opinion without prejudice and voluntarily.
