I loved the tidy ending. Also, the author's after word was well done and added context to the book.
Second Moore book after I read and enjoyed “Lamb”. This one is a perfect audio book for the commute, rich in cliches deftly pulled off, a simple story, caricatures of characters and kept together by Moore's ability for a simile” You know that when you hear the word “like” a pretty good one is coming. Plus points for setting it in San Francisco just after the WWII
As mad as a box of frogs (or crate of snakes). Huge fun once you attune to the rapid-fire humour. Some genuinely laugh out loud moments. Much better than I was expecting.
This is the fifth book I've read by this author. He's always fun. You might think from the title that this would be a dark novel, but no. It has all of the author's sense of humor throughout. Snappy dialogue, wacky situations, and many silly turns of phrase are within. It's set in 1947 San Francisco and stars a likable bartender named Sammy who falls for a pneumatic dame named Stilton (refered to by Sammy and his friends as the Cheese). It's a light read and includes a deadly snake, men in black, lesbian club owners, and an alien. To name a few.
