But it didn't take long for him to learn that Babel's competition was full of broken promises, none darker or more damaging than the last one. Now Emmett and the rest of the Genesis spaceship survivors must rally and forge their own path through a new world. Their mission from Babel is simple: extract nyxia, the most valuable material in the universe, and play nice with the indigenous Adamite population. Reviews with the most likes.
Great continuation, with just enough info at the beginning to help me remember events of the first book w/o a boring rehash. Impressive world-building, continued interesting character development, and lots of action that is realistically heartbreaking. Looking forward to the third and even more looking forward to Scott's visit to our school in October! The kids and I are so excited!
I'm a sucker for a good story with a clear villain that keeps the hero in the dark. Add to that a mix of science fiction meets Avatar and you have this series. While it's not the most original series I've ever read, it's just plain fun to listen to.
I think this a perfect 2nd book. All the things I loved in book one carries over pecfectly into this one. FOR THIS REVIEW, I AM ASSUMING ALL HAVE READ BOOK 1.
3 things I liked:
1) I personally loved finding out about the culture of the Imago people. I think that was beautifully written and woven into the storyline perfectly. The world building was so well done thatyou didn't find yourself feeling any disbelief at this alien world.
2) The development of the characters was phenomenal. In some cases, the characters in a book shift during the series but i honestly felt that many of the traits didn't get lost amingst the action.
3) As I said, I liked how the didn't forget their fallen characters, and they didn't forget what was done to them.
3 things to be improved:
1) I could have had a stronger presence for the queen. She was very meh. Nothing special
2) I would have enjoyed some weird quirks considering after all, THEY ARE ALIENS.
3) I could have used a third book being out. I just want to keep on consuming this world!!!
