Dexter meets Victoria Schwab in this dark and compelling fantasy about a girl who seeks revenge on the boy who betrayed her, a sequel to the critically acclaimed Not Even Bones. After escaping her kidnappers and destroying the black market where she was held captive, all Nita wants is to find a way to live her life without looking over her shoulder. But with a video of her ability to self-heal all over the dark web, Nita knows she’s still a prime target on the black market. There’s only one way to keep herself safe. Nita must make herself so feared that no one would ever dare come after her again. And the best way to start building her reputation? Take her revenge on Fabricio, the boy who sold Nita to her kidnappers. But killing Fabricio is harder than Nita thought it would be, even with Kovit by her side. Now caught in a game of kill or be killed, Nita will do whatever it takes to win.

I enjoy the story, but I feel like there wasn't really any character development in this book. I'll be interested to see if this continues or improves in the next book.

I feel like the 1st book in the series would have made a better 2nd, but not to this one's detriment. This book did for me what the first one promised it would. It delivered on the “horror” and scariness of these people and their choices. CAWPILECharactersNita—Compentant. Glad she's trying to be proactive about her ability. Still learning, 1st time really being social, has to figure things out. Too quickly resorts to violence. Starting to see the long game at the end. Really want to see her actually dissect someone. But I'm also a little glad its off screenKovit—enjoys torturing still. Breaks a rule, but doesn't destroy himself. Lots of growth we seen in the form of things done in the past affecting the present. Gets outed as a Zannie at the end. Where do they go from hereAdair—Kelpie macabre sense of humor. Deals in information. Knows a lot more than he's sayingAtmosphereTakes place in a busy city so I can picture it better. The tense feeling of being on the run and the way that Nita feels. WritingGood writing, nothing overtly bad about it.PlotMeanders a lot, isn't bad. But no clear goal aside from killing Fabricio. This was good because it allowed our characters more time for struggle. InvestmentThis book was tough to put down, because Nita was running from everyone and everything the whole time or trying to plan a murder and get away with it. LogicCharacters were consistent and things were logical to everything we know about the world. Nita and Kovits actions make sense for themselves.EnjoymentReally enjoyed this book. Glad to see them growing some and have a plan a crazy plan but a plan. Excited to see where this goes next book.MiscNita's Dad's case is Super Sensitive to INHUP?Who is this familyMom proud of Nita.
