Dean & Rosie really had me on edge
Dean and Rosie were meant to be together since high school. Although dating Rosie's sister Emilia senior year, Rosie was in love with her and he with her. 10 years later they get their happily ever after, with some bumps in the road. Dean discovers family secrets and poor Rosie almost dies. There is so much character and plot development in this book, I ate it up! Such a good book, so far better than Defy & Vicious!
4.5Like the previous installment, I did this in audio form, and as such I had fun with it. The rest are details. **DETAILS*Dean Cole is one of the self described Hot Holes from Todos Santos, “the richest town in California”, that the LeBlanc sisters met when their parents moved to California 10 years ago. Like her older sister, Rosie has all sorts of objections to the lifestyle of the rich, or filthy rich in this case, while “somehow” always managing to land in their orbit and fall in love with them. Rosie is living in the apartment she and Emilia occupied in NYC, which makes her Dean's neighbor. She's a free spirit, works as a barista, volunteers at a neonatal clinic, and wears band t-shirts. Quirky, right? She only pays $100 dollars rent in a luxury building but somehow manages to have no money to fly out to her sister's wedding and is throwing a fit over accepting a $200 upgrade to make a direct flight. I know NYC is expensive but ... nope, this is a bit fantastical. It seems to me that the author makes too much of the saintliness of these girls because they don't have money and “don't care about it”, and yet they're true loves are conveniently billionaires. Sure. Why not. *shrugDean, and a later appearance by Vicious, saved this book for me. He's foul mouthed, self-aware, self-critical, and yet vulnerable. Dean and Vicious are obverse sides of the same coin, even though allegedly they're the least close of the group, perhaps that is because they're the most alike. Dean has a pretty interesting back story and it surprised me. Overall I had a great time and you will too (with the AB), just squint your eyes at all the unbelievable stuff and Rosie's sometimes annoying opinions & comments.
This was so good!!!! I love Dean so so much I cannot even begin to express.
He comes off as an aloof jerk, but he has a good heart. And it beats for Rosie. He breathes for her. She is IT for him.
Rosie is hesitant to form relationships because of her health issues. She pushes people away so they won't suffer when she will eventually pass away. Dean makes it through those walls she has put up, and isn't going anywhere.
These two kind of fought the inevitable, and had mistakes and roadblocks along the way. But Dean is all in with Rosie and he proves it. He just wants to love and be loved.
