This book begins slow with seemingly unimportant character description with lots and lots of detail. The descriptions in the beginning eventually matter in the book. However, I'm still not convinced all of that detail was necessary. I did enjoy the book. I would not have guessed even half of the secrets hidden in it. The characters were well formed and compelling. They did stick with me more than many other characters that I have read. The ending was a little unsatisfying, but not unrealistic. It was an ending that reminded me of Hemmingway because it was the best for the characters even though I didn't like it.
I was hooked by page 25. Sincerely disappointed whenever real life interrupted my ability to read straight through.
