The inner circle by Brad Meltzer

Benjamin January, a young archivist, is visited by Clementine Kaye, his childhood crush, and when the two stumble upon a two hundred-year-old dictionary that once belonged to George Washington hidden in the president's secret vault, their curiosity puts them in a world of conspiracy, murder, and government secrets.

This book is not for the paranoid and the people who believe in every conspiracy theory, it will drive you nuts. It was a good and entertaining read but I've seen better ones (-1*), however it is good enough that I am immediately starting the next in series, The Fifth Assassin... Just to see what happens next!

I was glad to see this book end, but WTH? When I reached the last page, I was certain that there was more to come. Come on, that couldn't REALLY be the last page. I feel cheated. Whomever it was that told Brad Meltzer he could tell a good story, well, they LIED. I know he set it up for a sequel at the end, but he could've went about it in a MUCH better way. And what the hell with all the weird character names? If he was trying to make a character by giving them a memorable name, he did the exact opposite for me. I won't remember these odd names at all, other than the fact that they were odd. I will NOT be reading another book by him, EVER. The book gets two stars from me, because there were times during the book that I was curious as to what happened next. But then, sure enough, it just got silly.

This was slow and I kept getting annoyed by the main character. I think I expected something more akin to David Baldacci's Camel Club and I've enjoyed the comics Brad Meltzer has written so I think my expectations were a bit skewed. I picked up the second book to give it a chance because I can definitely see potential in the story.
