A sweet and satisfying end to an amazing series! I've been obsessed with The Bonds That Tie from the very first book and have been eagerly devouring each release since and I can't believe it's really over!
The entire plot was unique and something I haven't seen done before. The action during the whole series has kept me on my toes, it has been gripping and truly entertaining to read. The romance between Oli and her bonded group has been incredibly sweet. I loved reading each of their individual moments with Oli and their first bonding's to each other, especially Nox's, and how they all learnt to get along with one another and their god bonds.
I've thoroughly enjoyed this series since the very beginning and I think that the way J. Bree executed it was great. I'm genuinely a little sad that it's over and that we'll have to say goodbye to Oli and her boys but I can't wait to read what's to come next from J! I'm lowkey hoping that some time we get to delve into Sage or Sawyer's story.
Ah, my first Booktok recommendation! I heard about this series on Booktok and was intrigued. It's a paranormal romance (spicy/sex scenes). I haven't read much of this genre, but it's a good introduction if it's not usually your thing.
It's a six book series that follows Oleander (Oli) as a Gifted (human with powers) college student being brought back to her Bonds (other Gifted that she's meant to be with). She ran away from them years ago and her Bonds found her. She's not happy about this. Through the books, we find out the whys and hows of her fleeing.
At first, I was ready for the spice, but it's a slow build and it's worth it. I got really into the story and world building. It just kept building on itself. J. Bree did an excellent job there. At the core, the series is about a young woman coming into her own power, literally haha.
“Unbroken Bonds” started as an enthralling series, captivating readers with its intense plot and character dynamics. However, as a dedicated follower of the series, it's with disappointment that I reflect on its conclusion. The series, which ideally should have concluded with its fourth or fifth installment, unfortunately extended into a final book that didn't live up to the high standards set by its predecessors.
The last book marks a stark departure from the engaging storytelling that characterized earlier volumes. It shifted from showing to telling, a narrative style that diminished the immersive experience that fans had come to expect. This approach made the plot feel drawn out and, at times, unnecessary, detracting from the otherwise gripping storyline.
Even more disheartening was the epilogue, which failed to provide a satisfactory closure to the series. As a reader invested in the characters and their journeys, this lackluster conclusion felt like a missed opportunity to wrap up their stories meaningfully.
Furthermore, the series, known for its bold and explicit content, seemed to lose its edge in the final installment. The elements that added a layer of intensity and intrigue to the plot were noticeably muted, leaving even this aspect of the book underwhelming.
In summary, while “Unbroken Bonds” had the potential to be a groundbreaking series, the final book fell short of expectations. It serves as a reminder that sometimes, less is more when it comes to storytelling, and a well-timed conclusion can be pivotal in preserving the legacy of a great series.
