Wow! What an awesome, eye-opening book. My daughter (15) asked me to read it and I’m so glad I did. As a mid-50s cisgender woman, who is very supportive of, but often doesn’t understand the topic, this was an excellent journey for me.
I think this should be a must read for every parent!
Added bonus that it is a highly banned book and I try to purchase and read as many of them as I can (that I haven’t already).
While the author (Maia Kobabe) thinks e isn’t brave throughout this book, I think the fact that e wants to live an authentic life that is true to eir identity is the utmost in bravery and courage.
I cannot say enough about this book except read it! It is insightful, easily digestible, and just plain excellent!
This is my second time through listening to this because I wanted to remember what was going on before the HBO series started. I first listened to it years ago when the original GOT ended and I needed more.
It is a great tale with endearing main characters. The narrator is a little annoying at times when he whispers but all around another hit from George RR Martin!
If you like GOT, you will love this!
I’ve loved science fiction since I was a kid. This was a fun book! The audible version was great at 1.2 speed and the narrator (Ray Porter) was fantastic. His different voices really brought the characters to life. I won’t put any spoilers, but I will say that “Rocky” was definitely one of my favorite characters ever in a book. I really hope Andy Weir writes a sequel!
I know the movie is coming out soon and I hope they stay true to the book and not ruin it with Hollywood crap.
If you like sci-fi, this is definitely worth a read/listen.
Being a huge fan of dystopian / apocalyptic stories, a friend recommended this to me. Short and interesting, with something to ponder. I applaud its cynicism on religious dogma. We’ve all wondered what comes next, and what really matters in the end. I truly hope the author’s account of the afterlife is patently wrong.
