See allWhile the adventure was a decent story, I never felt the characters were developed enough to care about them, really, which was disappointing. It seemed to move too fast.
I, also, never could get past the fact The Underground Railroad, was an actual railroad, underground. Just seemed so lazy and disrespectful, to me.
I loved this book. I've read a couple other Appalachian Trail books, and have enjoyed them all. But I liked his take on everything on his trip, describing pretty much every step, the relationships formed along the trail, even if only 5 minutes long, and felt more detailed than some others. He made me care about not only him, but others he spent time with. I did, really, laugh and cry while reading.
