I actually haven't finished this yet, but I'm enjoying it, and I'm just so tickled that most of the negative reviews on here could easily be summarised by the title.

This can never be made into a movie because the plot is razor thin, and the entire thing is held up only by RDK's fabulous writing. The fact that she gets away with it at all just shows how well her pacing and prose can keep you hooked on her nonsense. I had a good time.

Gossipy, fascinating and fun. There are a few chapters in which the author takes licence and appears to write alternative histories (eg. one where she marries Townsend). They're tiresome and skippable, but most of the book is entertaining and interesting. Despite her obviously spoilt attitude, it's hard not to have sympathy for a woman who was mocked, objectified and judged by everyone (including a long list of famous, lecherous men). Excellent read.
